Craig Gartner, CFA

I am a finance professional with over twenty years of experience, from four different financial institutions and also corporate business. Over the years, I have worked in Canada, the US, and the UK; as well as managed employees overseas. I have also been active in change management throughout my career. I have been lucky to work with, and manage, large teams of diverse employees who represent countries and cultures from all over the world. It is this people manager and mentor aspect of my career which I value the most.

Coaching develops your own potential, while challenging your thinking towards personal growth or a specific goal.  In contrast to mentoring, you are not told what to do, but find it yourself.  My philosophy is that attention and active listening is the foundation of any good coaching relationship, with challenge and accountability.

I am an EMCC Accredited Coach and Mentor at foundation level and ICF member.

Craig helped me with the leap from individual producer to managing a high performing. He helped me put a plan and process around how to manage a team including incorporating new joiners. Key to my success has been Craig’s coaching me on topics, such as, delegation, managing up and developing an internal stakeholder map.

As a woman in finance I have found having a coach instrumental in my continued success. Craig’s communication style is calm and collected, he is intentional with his words and I came away from his sessions with clear drive and direction.

A Finance professional

As a new line manager Craig helped me understand better how to manage some complex relationships with my team as well as how to find ways to continue developing myself in this leadership position.

Craig helped me understand better the dynamics of some key members of my team and how to get the best from them while retaining my preferred authentic style of leadership. He helped me prepare for and followed up on the difficult conversations that were necessary to manage these risks and also to get the best from individuals within the team.

An Energy professional

Craig demonstrated exceptional skill and expertise that lead to positive outcomes helping me maneuver through difficult decisions and intricate scenarios.

His guidance has not only enhanced my ability to manage challenges effectively but has also significantly contributed to several milestone accomplishments that would only reflect positively in my career trajectory.
