Michele Fugiel Gartner, MA, CAP®, is an experienced advisor within the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors, specializing in private/family foundations and social entrepreneurship. She is an instructor of nonprofit management with Mount Royal University, Calgary, AB, Canada. Currently, Michele is conducting doctoral research on the foundation professional at the University of St. Andrews, Centre for the Study of Philanthropy & Public Good. This research is complemented by the provision of advisory services for women and next-generation philanthropists through www.mygiving.is. She obtained her Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® designation in 2016.
Michele’s prior philanthropic experience is with Trico Charitable Foundation, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Social Venture Partners Calgary. She was project manager for Enterprising Non-Profits Canada, an initiative of Employment and Social Development Canada and has sat on the Boards of the Social Enterprise Council of Canada and the Social Enterprise Alliance (U.S.). Michele received her M.A. degree in International Studies and Diplomacy at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London and is an alumna of the Rotary Group Study Exchange Fellowship and the Asia Pacific Leadership Program at the East-West Center. She resides in London, UK.
